B&H has leica 39 and 46mm IR cut in stock

Got some, although these are the same sizes I ordered from Leica!!! I've been passing up using these lenses for too long now.

Would these be the same IR cut filters that Leica Solms promised to send M8 owners but can't because they are so low on production because they are filling the coffers of large camera retailers such as B&H? Am I the only one that smells a rat? Disgusting!

Dear Leica,

I purchased my M8 the first day it was available and registered for the filters the first day the program started. I have not received any as of yet. I did see the new April FAQ and it says the 39's are shipping. When should I expect mine?

because of the large demand at the moment unfortunately we cannot dispatch your filters.

As soon as they are in stock again, they will be sent. They shall be available from the 24th calendar week on.

I'm not making excuses for Leica, because I'm also getting a little bent out of shape over the wait. But B&H *is* arguably a larger customer of theirs than any one of us. Business is business is business...

Damn Mancuso! It's after one in the morning here!. I thought I was being attacked by Dick Dale! I just jumped up into a karate stance and I don't know karate! Nice site otherwise... :)

 

Just noticed b&h has 39 and 46 ir filters in stock. Use the links from LUF and help keep this place going

The LCU links do not work in my Safari. Given that this is the standard browser for the Mac, and given that Mac users apparently out-number Windows users on this forum by 2:1, I think someone might want to look into that.

 

The ad appears for a few seconds, but then disappears before the page finishes loading. If I stop the page load, the ad link doesn't work.

 

In case someone wants to say something about Firefox, I do have it, but I am not going to switch to it so I can see ads!

I also smell a rat.

 

If business is business why isn't my business as important to Leica? Is size everything, what about fulfilling your obligation to customers to whom you have promised tofix a glaring (ir) problem created by inadequate testing? Show your commitment to those who have already purchased, after all they are struggling now.

 

Yes I love my M8, I am not a naysayer but come on Leica show us some respect and fulfil your most pressing obligations first, then supply the open market

I smelt a RAT also so I sent Leica M8 Support a email on March 30th. Here is the email I sent.

On 1/24/07 I purchased a M8 body (# 3100977) and registered it on the Leica website on 1/25/07 for the 2 free IR cut filters. I ordered a E39 and E55 filters and still have not received either of them. It is now 2 months, total of 9 weeks, since purchasing and registering.

 

But I find that B&H PhotoVideo in New York City USA has Leica E39 filter for sale.

 

Could you please explain to me how they have them for sale and I still do NOT have either of the filters Leica promised me when I bought the M8.

 

This is puzzling how you can send filters to dealers before you send filter you promised to customers that have bought a M8.

 

Thanks for your LACK of support. I will remember this when I am looking for a new film or digital camera. In that it will not be a Leica (and I have been a Leica owner since 1972).

E39 filters have not been on stock but they will arrive this week and next week, so your E39 should arrive within the next 2 weeks latest. E55 size will follow at the beginning of June. I am very sorry not to have better news for you.

Included in the email that Stefan sent me were some inter company correspondence between Stefan and Ursula Brand-Gerheim. Although some of it was deleted they forgot one part. It is in German so I can't read it. If someone could translate it!

Funny part is Leica did send me one of my filters, a 39mm, by overnight express FedEx.

It was shipped on the 10th and the FedEx guy delivered it on the 11th at about 5:30 or 6:00 PM with a comment that he was sorry for it being so late the plane was late arriving.

They may be waiting until both free filters ordered are available before shipping the order. It has been a while since I ordered the filters, but I think I ordered a 60mm and 55mm, both of which are not available yet.

 

Well in the FAQ's at the Leica website they said because of the delays with some filter sizes they would be sending out the sizes they did have as individual unit.

 

I just find it very troubling that Leica can supply dealers with filters to SELL before they have sent out those same size to ALL customers that have purchased M8's and ordered either one or both those same size filters.

 

I actually BOUGHT TWO E39 (39mm) Leica IR cut filter from B&H before I sent that email and of course receiving the one free 39mm filter I had ordered whan registering the M8.

Totally ridiculous.

Who can answer him. He is not the first customer who has asked this and certainly not the last.

 

Thanks for the trans. I punched it into a online translator but it didn't work to well.

It would have been interesting to read the rest of what they deleted. Obviously this person is questioning their policy as well. I totally agree that this is a very stupid thing for them to do. I bought my camera on November 8th. I received one filter last week. I had ordered a 55 and a 46. The 46 was sent and it looks like the 55 will be in June. Of course I bought the filters I needed long ago but that is not the point. The filters not only should have been made available long ago but they should have been sent FIRST to M8 owners.

It could be it takes more time to fill 2,000 orders for assorted filter sizes than one or two orders from B+H and the other big retailers.

 

I wonder if the fullfillment of the free filters was subcontracted out to a third party and they are swamped with orders to fill. In other words, they have the available sizes already sent to them by Leica, but just don't have the capacity to ship thousands of orders quickly.

 

The filters shipped to retailers like B&H probably just go through their normal order channels.

FYI I sent leica NJ an email and changed my sizes for the same reason..they forwarded it to Solms ..not sure if this will work

Doubt it. I sent an e-mail to Solms months ago trying to change the size of my filters and received an e-mail saying, sorry the orders have already been processed.
