Rick Posted November 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just wanted to mention I was extremely disappointed, to say the least, with the new box design. I felt that with all of those drawers and such, Leica might have been more attentive to their customer needs and placed a jar of preserves and some of that nice clotted cream in one of those drawers. Leica has lost its way. Very disappointed indeed.
Advertisement Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Hi Rick, Take a look here Disappointed with the new M240 Box. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thighslapper Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm sure the quality of the paper in the manual has changed ..... just doesn't feel the same as the M9 one. Not sure I'll ever get used to it ......
jaapv Posted November 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2013 The silver of the outer box has a slightly different gloss from the M9 Very disappointing indeed... But for 200 Euro more Leica will put an original Leica Bratwurst in the top drawer.
Paul J Posted November 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2013 Try the lower draw, it tastes of Käsekrainer. It's an authentic taste, I would say, and amazing how they packed so much smokey flavour in something such as a paper draw. My guess is it represents 15% cheese and if you can get over the more chewy texture of the cardboard you're probably in for quite a filling treat. bideford Posted November 12, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 12, 2013 I am surprised no one has mentioned if the box was thicker or heavier than the M9 one.
algrove Posted November 12, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) The heck with the wurst. Paul J Posted November 12, 2013 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2013 More disappointing is the plain outer brown box. Since they switched manufactures to costmostis I just feel the colour of it has changed to much. I much prefer Pantone 14-1012 TPX as my plain outer box colour and I don't see why they needed to change to something, to my eye, that looks like 14-1118 TPX which is far more Canonikon. You know, a company really has to think outside the box these days and unless they give us variant 1012 out box I can just see the end of the road for them and it's not going to be easy to recover. bideford Posted November 12, 2013 Share #11 Posted November 12, 2013 Fear not. I understand Artisan & Artist and bringing out a nice pretty half case to fit said box including an interesting design for accessing the drawers. Available in black or tan cowhide, or zebra (no stripes extra).
dwbell Posted November 12, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 12, 2013 Dude! You payed to join the club, you have to make your own box.
Dannybuoy Posted November 12, 2013 Share #13 Posted November 12, 2013 Funnily enough the box is in my loft gathering dust and my M isn't.
bideford Posted November 12, 2013 Share #14 Posted November 12, 2013 I have had my box for a week now and i have to admit i seriously regret selling my old box to fund this box. while the built quality is nice, after watching it for a week i have not found one position that impressed me feng shui wise. they all have a very boxy look, like i could have had with my old box. it kind of feels like the new box has lost its magic. Its a bit hard pinpoint what it is, i will give it another week but i think i will part with it again. (Apologies to the source OP!)
Photojazz Posted November 12, 2013 Share #15 Posted November 12, 2013 Bunch of dang nut cases. Are there any nuts in the drawers? Leica nuts would be sweet I bet... Lemon squares could be sweet too...
bideford Posted November 12, 2013 Share #16 Posted November 12, 2013 My wife was very pleased with her new jewellery box. A tad expensive she murmured, a little embarrassed - but after I assured her she was worth it, all was well.
jip Posted November 13, 2013 Share #17 Posted November 13, 2013 My boyfriend keeps bragging about his 'oooh sooo beautifull M8 box' I am seriously thinking about returning my box, including my M and get a monochrom or m9 box, or maybe a S2 box so I can brag again, and tell him my box is bigger! Leica has lost its way. Very disappointed indeed. Mine had a SD card with M9 color profile/anti-lockup firmware in one of the drawers. Didn't yours? It also had an extra battery with a nano cooling unit to prevent lockup in hot environments. Didn't yours come with those accessories?
StephenPatterson Posted November 13, 2013 Share #20 Posted November 13, 2013 I feel extremely cheated that my uber exclusive M240 has to share a box design with the lowly X1. Seriously Leica? No mahogany? Have you learned nothing from Hasselblad?
