Well I received my multifunction grip yesterday and am really disappointed. Instructions in manual pretty lame but I think it's as simple as turning gpS on in the menu. I have been outside in wide open spades in Dallas Texas and have yet to get a signal. Unless I am doing something wrong I am sending this back.

Update

The GPS now works. It initially took around 20 minutes to activate but now works fine. Leica should have explained this in the manual

I hope that this is a “one off” wait and not every time. Otherwise when you are in a hot country and using the EVF, the camera will have overheated and switched itself off by the time it has acquired the satellites. :(

Leica manuals are another item which need better beta testing. They are often are less than adequate, confusing and have a number of mistranslation errors in the English language version. I use the English language PDF manual of the M240 more than the physical one but a very irritating feature is that the pagination does not match the page numbers given in the index. I assume that originally it had a German section and an English section, with the German section before the English one, so that each page number shown in the index is 125 pages too high.

On my Olympus EP-5 PDF manual, all the index entries are hyperlinked, so that when you click on the index entry, it takes you automatically to the correct page in the manual. At a guess, it would take me around 1 to 2 hours work to do this on the Leica manual, using the “Create Link Tool” on Acrobat, so it is just laziness or ignorance that Leica have not done this.
