eudemian Posted November 9, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) First day first problem. I was reviewing a shot in camera using the play button and the photo showed up no problem. I then zoomed the photo using the thumb wheel, the first zoom level was fine but then after that increasing zooming showed thick red vertical bands on the screen. I went back to full view and the banding disappeared but on subsequent zooms the same display problem showed up. I had a full battery charge in, I am using Scandisk Extreme Pro card. I switched the camera off and then reviewed the same photo again, this time no problem so the image is intact on the card. So what do I make of this? Do I say it is just a glitch? Leica electronics keeping me on my toes? What caused the banding, some faulty electronic pathway from the card to the screen? Any ideas anyone. (Love the camera by the way, certain aspects intrigue me but I think, as long as the electronics function logically, I will think this is my best Leica so far)

jaapv Posted November 9, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2013 Return the camera. It is most likely a LCD problem.
eudemian Posted November 9, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted November 9, 2013 Oh dear this isn't what I expected jaapv. That seems drastic but you may be correct. Do I send it back to Ffordes or Leica? This isn't the response/explanation that I wanted .
kdriceman Posted November 9, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2013 Return the camera. It is most likely a LCD problem. Why the rush to return the camera Jaap? Brand new camera, first usage with brand new battery. I would use it for awhile and see if it persists. Also use it and see if other issues arise before you send it in. eudemian Posted November 9, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted November 9, 2013 Thanks for the reply, I have noticed something else which may be related. The thumbwheel zoom sometimes produces a delay in the review on the LCD. This is on the first zoom, the other zoom displays are almost instantaneous. It was with the first zoom that the red banding occurred. Could it be the thumbwheel that is the problem and not the LCD? I will play with it this weekend and see what develops. The red banding seems to have gone,( rather I have not been able to replicate it)
