Image Print and Maverick

I plan to call tomorrow, but as of now, I am unable to print using Image Print after having installed Maverick. I noticed at least one post on the web (Google search) indicating that someone else had similar problems. If you haven't installed Maverick, but need to print, you may want to wait until the issue gets resolved.

I will report back.

As an aside, I am continue to unimpressed with Image Print as a software company. I could find nothing on their website that acknowledged the issue. The site is out of date.

[i don't know why my original post is appearing the way it is, but I am unable to add to the thread, as is true of others. So I have started this thread.]

I called Image Print. The solution is to reinstall Image Print using EZ Updater--http://www.colorbytesoftware.com/Ver9/support.shtml. You don't need to reinstall the dongle or remove the original software. I still have not printed, but I am able to open Spool Face without it crashing, so I think this will work.

Relatedly, because Image Print is not an Apple app, you will not be able to open it the normal way because of Gatekeeper--Mac security. The quick way to open it is to do a right click, which brings up an menu with Open as an one of the options. This allows you to override Gatekeeper. The problem is that Spool Face can only be opened from the menu, so right click doesn't work. You need to go into system preferences under Security and Privacy and override Gatekeeper. This strikes me at a little paternalistic, but there you have it. It appears once you have overridden Gatekeeper for a specific app that you don't need to do it every time you open the app.

Here is an article that explains how to disable Gatekeeper:Fix the “App can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer” Error in Mac OS X

not sure, why I can't reply to your thread about image Print.

Maybe our highly dynamic mediators can merge ...

I didn't upgraded my Mac Pro for that reason, but did converted my MacBook Air to Maverick, so I can try all applications, before I move my Pro

I have no problems to print from it with Image Print.

First time opening the app gives an error of "unidentified developer" just left click the touch pad and open the app. It allows to overwrite the warning

[Here is the response I got from Image Print (in my words and posted elsewhere, but people seem to have trouble responding to it--I think my setting may have changed, which I changed back]

Mavericks resets the program security back to the highest setting, so it needs to be changed to whatever it was set to before the upgrade.

The 'problem' you experienced is not because the program isn't an Apple program, it's because you didn't purchase it through the app store.
