The small Bedfordshire of Willington was once the home of the Master of the King's Horse for King Henry VIII. His large stables still stand next to the church — note the unusual corner buttresses.

Across the road is a dovecote built in a similar style.

Thank you for the historical notes. That is, certainly, a very large stable. Couldn't help but tempted to draw the parallel to the garages for expensive cars and private hangers for jet planes of the billionaires in our time.

 

Good historical & documentation image. I enjoyed it.
