ron110n Posted April 15, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Purchased March 05, 2004 Out of Service April 15, 2007 Â While composing a digital snap of my Rolleiflex as a subject, officially 4/15/07 my D2 passed away. All I get are washed-out images as though I have vaseline on my lens. My Panasonic LX1 took over plus a Neopan 400 back-up on my M3. Â Question: Â 1. What is the warranty of a D2 USA issue? 2. My warranty card / Registration is still blank... he he.. will Leica still honor if ever warranty is current? 3. How is the D3 performance and how did it work with an R lens adapter. 4. What type of R lens performs best. 5. Any D3 / R lens samples or links? Â -Ron

spylaw4 Posted April 15, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 15, 2007 In answer to your points #3,4,5. Now that I am getting more consistent and better results from the standard lens on my L1, I shall be trying out the R adapter with a 90/2.8 Elmarit. That's the only R lens I have and that is strictly an interim until the 14-150 appears. I hope to post a few samples in due course.

Pls. send me a private message so i don't miss it.  Thanks again guys!  -Ron  Ron - I will if I remember! The post may well be in the Digital Forum if I can find the thread I started re D3/L1 lens quality.  Incidentally I was out shooting yesterday (RAW) but set the jpeg "thumb" to lowest quality and smallest size. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the approx.0.5Mb jpegs were. Could this be to do with the compression or have Panasonic been fiddling with the processing in the v2 firmware update? I must run some comparisons at various jpeg sizes.qualities. (Oh no! - not more work )
dugby Posted April 16, 2007 Share #6  Posted April 16, 2007 I will vouch for Leica....Honouring 'out-of-warranty' cameras....like my D2.  LEICA CAMERAS are a wonderful company who have exceeded my expectations for 'After sales customer service'.  I have bought 4x Leica cameras in the last 3 years and will ensure that my next one will also have the "LEICA" label on it.   Just be patient as they are a little busy servicing a few issues with D2's and M8's  Whilst my D2 was visiting the Solms hospital...... I had a urgent photographic assigment that justified a D3 (actually L1.... as it was immediately available for a multi-country shoot).  Now that I'm in love with the D3/L1 images,.... I just can't let go of the D2 either.  My D2 is serving solid duty as a 'special occasions alternative' when the L1 is in-appropriate to be used.  The D2 is still a very valid and viable shooter. ron110n Posted April 17, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted April 17, 2007 Thank you guys for the support. Likewise thank you Leica for the Costumer Support! Â Brian, That was a nice L1 / R presentation. Thanks! http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/21871-r-lenses-d3-l1.html?posted=1#post230959 Â Dugby, Same here mate, the D2 is not for sale after repair. I just love the creamy look of D2 snaps. To me that's one brand of film. Â Allan, Thank you for letting the D2 owners know that... Leica won't let them down. Â Once again Riley, Thanks for the awsome tip mate. Â Best, -Ron
