Gpro512 Posted October 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I inherited a silver leica M8 along with a summicron m1:2/50mm lens. I put the lens onto the camera it clicked in but when I turn the camera to ,'s' I get a red light then it goes off nothing appears on lcd screen. I do not know what to do seems like a very nice camera. I do not know if the lens is communicating with the camera either. Advertisement Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hi Gpro512, Take a look here Help leica M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
vcs700s Posted October 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2013 You have a good combo there. Battery may need to be charged. This just happened to me a couple of days ago after the M8 had been sitting for awhile.

Greg Gpiro512@yahoo.com You are not going to get anything on the screen unless you push the play button, menu button or info button. If you take a picture the image will show for a few seconds if the camera is setup that way. The red flashing light means it went thru the diagnostics. The lens does not communicate with the camera. It mechanically selects frame lines.
scsambrook Posted October 17, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 17, 2013 You can download the instructions at Leica Camera AG - Downloads. Perhaps a sound idea to read through them before trying to use the camera.

wda Posted October 17, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 17, 2013 Thanks everyone. Going to recharge battery first. I also strongly recommend that you read the instructions with camera in hand. Even if you are an intuitive ace, you will still get better results once you know more about its operation. If all is working, you have an excellent combination capable of great results. Next, search for the sticky threads on the camera. There is a wealth of information therein, based on members' experiences.
