MikeEvangelist Posted October 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got a few old Nikkors that I'm fond of, and the M gives them a whole new life. It's rather ironic that early Nikon F lenses like this 55mm f1.2 can't be used on my D800e, due to mount changes, but works wonderfully on the M with Novoflex adapter. My old Canon FD lenses (and of course Leica R lenses) are waiting patiently for their respective adapters to arrive. So many new possibilities! Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Hi MikeEvangelist, Take a look here My favorite thing about the M240 - using almost any lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
CVickery Posted October 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2013 Me too. I have OM, FD, MD and R adapters. It's going to take a while to work through all the lenses I have, but it's all part of the fun. I've used adapted lenses on Canon in the past, with some success, but the Leica opens up a whole new range of possibilities.
StephenPatterson Posted October 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 12, 2013 Having fun with the "Canonlux". 50/1.2 but at 0.4m is an interesting look. Welcome, dear visitor! Rick Posted October 13, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 13, 2013 Stephen, I'm generally not a fan of the shallow DOF portraits posted all the time on the forum... but, that one just works. Aside from the fact that you nailed the focus right on the eyes, maybe it is because it is more straight on and both eyes are in focus. Nice shot and lens. Makes me want to dig out some old lenses and wish that I hadn't traded-in most of them long ago. I never anticipated the day when the M would be considered versatile. Got to admit, the M is turning out to be a cool camera. Rick
MikeEvangelist Posted October 14, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted October 14, 2013 The razor-thin DOF at 1.2 is often challenging for me, especially with an active subject like my grandson; but I got lucky this time. Rick Posted October 14, 2013 Share #12 Posted October 14, 2013 Mike, this is another example for me that shows when the subject is more straight-on, the picture just works better than the portrait of the subject who's face is turned to the camera with only one eye in focus. I've learned something here. Very well done.
MikeEvangelist Posted October 14, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted October 14, 2013 Are the Canon's fixed at open aperture with an adapter? This is true of the newer Canon mounts, but the FD mount lenses all have real aperture rings for manual control. (An added bonus of the old mounts: the lenses are really inexpensive.)
