I am having problems updating firmware version 2.3.0.0 on my S2. I have tried using different computers and different memory cards.

Lens firmware updates were ok.

Not sure what is going on:rolleyes:. Please advise. Thanks.

Best,

Thanks Vintola. That explains why.

I thought it was an update for S2 since it shows as an available firmware update on the Leica Owners on my S2 product page. I should have read the instructions before I download.

There is indeed also an S2 update. But that version starts with 1.3. etc. I guess worth installing.

If one doesn't plan on having the 45mm lens, is it really worth installing? If there are unmentioned bug-fixes then yes, I think so, or maybe if you figure it's generally a smart idea to have the latest firmware.

I haven't seen any good reason in the listed improvements since the interface changes in 1.0.1.8, because I don't have any of those new supported lenses or use flash or tethering.

But I don't really see any good reason not to do the updates either, except for the slight chance of trouble during the update.

The update (have an S) worked seemlessly. I guess there are really no reasons to not do it. Risks during update process are minimal. Put a fully charged battery in (it will refuse the update if the power level is not sufficient though) and wait 2 minutes or so. Of course, don't take off the lenses, play with the switches etc., but I don't think anybody will try to.

Having the latest software may also be needed in case you have any future issues and call the hotline. I guess they would then always ask you to install the latest firmware anyway.

Besides the reported issues that have been fixed, there may also be changes which are not documented, which may be helpful.
