mblaze Posted October 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I've been shooting with my M for about 24 hours now. So far, I'm very impressed; it fixes most of my complaints about of the M9. ISO3200 is actually usable! The most surprising improvement that I've noticed so far is that I can focus MUCH more accurately and quickly in low light with the EVF2 than with the rangefinder. In bright light I still prefer the rangefinder, but in low light, the live view is proving to be a real godsend. So far my only real complaints: I'd love it to have a native low ISO range of 50 or 100 rather than 200 (need ND filters to use fast lenses wide open in daylight). And the live view magnification mode is stuck in the center of the frame, which makes focusing tilting lenses infeasible. A longer maximum exposure time would be helpful. But all in all, I'm pretty happy so far.

algrove Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2013 Yes, being able to move the LV focus point around the LCD like even the simplest of P&S cameras would be very handy indeed.
vikasmg Posted October 5, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 5, 2013 I'd love it to have a native low ISO range of 50 or 100 rather than 200 (need ND filters to use fast lenses wide open in daylight). I'm sure that other things being equal (because some sensors do manage a wider range than others), there is a relationship between native low ISO point and high ISO performance of a sensor. wlaidlaw Posted October 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 5, 2013 I just hope that Leica change over to the VF-4 soon, which is the replacement VF from Epson, who I believe make the EVF-2. Olympus who also used to use the VF-2 have dropped it totally and replaced with two models, the cheap low res VF-3 and the new high res VF-4. The VF-4 is a whole lot better than the VF-2 (I can use both on my Olympus EP-5 to compare). The screen is bigger (about 50% greater area), brighter and sharper. Focusing my longer Leica R lenses on the EP-5, is much easier on the VF-4. I also prefer the method of diopter adjustment with a side dial rather than rotating the eyepiece. With the large eyecup, my EVF-2 keeps changing its setting, taking it in and out of a bag. Finally the VF-4 has auto-eye-detection, which is a big advance on button pressing. Fingers crossed Wilson
