1234 Posted October 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was surprised to find that I cannot use the offered Lightroom 5 or 3 to process images from new M(240) since my PC has older operating system still supported by everybody else in the world but Adobe. What are my options? Really do not want to upgrade to current Windows system. thanks, Harry

doolittle Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2013 Upgrade to Windows 7 (which is stable and similar UI to XP). Or use a different raw converter.

What are my options? Really do not want to upgrade to current Windows system. thanks, Harry I had exactly the same problem when I bought my M240 when I was using a 6 year old HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows XP OS at the time. As I was having problems with it running slowly and continually having to try and speed it up, I bit the bullet and bought a 21.5" IMAC which with the LR 5 software offered is excellent. Regarding your options, is your PC also going to be able to quickly cope with the relatively large RAW files from the M240? Think you may have to try upgrading your Windows OS to at least v7 or bite the bullet like I did.

Support is ending for Windows XP - Microsoft Windows
250swb Posted October 7, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 7, 2013 An upgrade to Win7 may not make it any better, you'll also need 4gb of RAM so check the full spec of your PC and see if it is worth upgrading or cheaper to bite the bullet and get a new one. viooh Posted October 7, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2013 I had a similar problem with my new Oly E-P5 which is not supported by LR4, and my VISTA PC can not be updated to LR5. Maybe you could use the same workaround I use - Adobe offers a free DNG converter that converts RAW data from cameras not supported by older LR versions into DNGs that can be handled by the older LR versions. However, be aware that this converter is not without flaws when used with VISTA, it took some research on the Adobe forums to make it work.
