Advertisement Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Hi dierk, Take a look here Tilt/Shift Photography With a Leica M range finder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted October 3, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2013 Very nice Dierk. Some pros are now using less of the lens and more of the software to do this. What is your experience with say LR or PS in doing corrections that a specialized lens does?
thighslapper Posted October 3, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 3, 2013 I have the Arax 35/2.8 and 80/2.8 T/S ...... Both work well on the M and are cheap if you want to just dabble in this subject. Picture quality is reasonable for the price except wide open. Fun to play with ..... I couldn't justify big money for something I would only use occasionally...... mblaze Posted October 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2013 I don't see how you can properly focus a tilting lens on an M-240, given that live view can only magnify the center of the frame. The ability to move the magnified live few area across the frame is the main reason I keep my Nikon D3x around as my "small view camera substitute." I'd love to use the M for this, but it just isn't usable.

I had the D3 and the 24mm PCE and sold all DSLR gear a few weeks ago. I still have the old 85mm Micro PC and can't wait for the new FF NEX
dierk Posted October 3, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted October 3, 2013 Very nice Dierk. Some pros are now using less of the lens and more of the software to do this. What is your experience with say LR or PS in doing corrections that a specialized lens does? a moderate correction in LR or PS or DXO will be ok., but to correct the view of a 17mm lens will be too much. You will have to use a lens like 12mm to get the wide angle. The Software has to "invent" too many pixels and you have to cut very much on the edges when correcting the image (hard to describe, what I mean, unless you tried it yourself)
algrove Posted October 4, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) So wait, you wrote this whole article about using the M with tilt/shift lenses and then gave your M back! Interesting situation, indeed.
brill64 Posted October 4, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 4, 2013 Informative article with some really stunning interiors & useful tips. Very well done & thank you for making a tilt/shift work on an M9. I especially like your b+w interiors. Do you find much blurring towards the corners when shifted on an M9?
jaques Posted October 4, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 4, 2013 So wait, you wrote this whole article about using the M with tilt/shift lenses and then gave your M back! Interesting situation, indeed. actually the aricle is about using the m9
dierk Posted October 4, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted October 4, 2013 So wait, you wrote this whole article about using the M with tilt/shift lenses and then gave your M back! Interesting situation, indeed. I did buy the 17mm TS-E for the use with the new M. But as said, I sent it back with a long letter about my negative findings. After that the M9 and MM where my only FF cameras for the use of the TS-E. It does not fit on Nikon. And I use it on the Sony NEX7 and 6 for shift and! tilt and it works great with the flexible focus spot and the full support with the Matabones adapter (what the M does not have). gravastar Posted October 4, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 4, 2013 I don't see how you can properly focus a tilting lens on an M-240, given that live view can only magnify the center of the frame. The ability to move the magnified live few area across the frame is the main reason I keep my Nikon D3x around as my "small view camera substitute." I'd love to use the M for this, but it just isn't usable. The only way I overcome that problem is to take a picture and then scroll around it magnified on the rear screen. Unfortunately it's time consuming. If you delete an unsatisfactory image before taking another one you avoid fragmenting data on the SD card. Bob.
