No, I am much too decrepit to lug a tripod about - I have enough trouble lugging myself about! ;)

Ok. 😊

I wish I could one day buy myself a Benbo Trekker!! That would be great to have when out photographing nature.

Which part of the world is the photo taken? It would help if you have indication of its leaf, flower and/or fruit.

Prima facie it appears to be of - Apocynaeceae - Oleander family.

@HpS @Gerbs thanks for your efforts. I wish I had recorded the leaf pattern but didn’t think to at the time! From the south of England.

Tulip trees in the US tend to have very straight trunks, without low branches. They are a very soft hardwood and fast growing.

The picture here of tulip bark is just like yours: https://www.healthbenefitstimes.com/tulip-tree/

I think this is spot on! There were now low branches, which annoyed my 3 year old as she wants to climb everything. Thanks again.

Firstly, I must correct myself.

Trees with criss-crossing fissured barks, in South Asia are primarily (that I know of) - Annonaceae and Chochlospermaceae families, not Apocynaeceae - Oleander family as I wrote earlier.

Secondly, if your tree is in England then I doubt if it could be one of the two I know of.

The tree closer to yours in South Asia is the Cochlospermum religiosum, commonly Yellow Silk Cotton tree.
