The problem I had was that even with the picture upright on the screen, when I upload it, it turns horizontal.

I was able to rotate the image just using the edit function on my phone. It uploaded normally.

Hi Brent,  Thank you for your help.  I don't know why I couldn't do it.  With it 'portrait' on the screen, when I uploaded it it rotated 90 degrees every time.  If I started out with it sideways, it remained so!  Very frustrating, but I have had it do this before and in the end I just did not post the picture.  I had wondered if the maximum image size related to the height  rather than the longest dimension.  Apart from Lightroom 4 the only photo program I have is the Microsoft default program on my PC....

This is actually a photo of the negative taken on my M9M using a Focotar enlarger lens.
