Advertisement Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi MarkP, Take a look here RPX-400. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pontus Posted September 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2013 Not yet, but I just ordered some the other day... Should be here next week, I intend to shoot and develop a roll as soon as possible.
fotohuis Posted September 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2013 It is a typical Harman/Ilford emulsion. It pushes very good, especially with the Rollei RPX-D developer, made by Spur. It has characteristics like HP5+ or Kentmere 400 but it is not the same. The packing is simpel, twinpack in 135-36, no box, not any DX code but the emulsion is pretty good. pontus Posted October 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2013 I've tried one roll, developed in XTOL 1:1, and I think I like it! Especially the price... I have a few scans up at pontusadefjord (the last four right now). Those are quite low resolution, I do have a couple scanned at 2820 dpi here: (basically straight from the scanner, contrast and levels adjusted with curves) http://www.update.uu.se/~pobe/bilder/RPX400/Scan-130930-0005.jpg http://www.update.uu.se/~pobe/bilder/RPX400/Scan-130930-0007.jpg And a low res image with high res crop: http://www.update.uu.se/~pobe/bilder/RPX400/Scan-130930-0003.jpg I'm no expert and don't really know how to describe it, I feel the grain is more pronounced than HP5 (what I've been using as my main film for a while). I'm guessing moderately sized prints will probably look a bit sharper? HP5 has a special grainy-but-smooth feeling with lovely tones, the RPX feels a bit "flatter". But I'm going to try it for a while (270 feet of it...). What really matters to me is how the prints look, and that I don't know yet.
