marc_dufour Posted July 24, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Oropesa del Mar, Castellón, Spain. Typical example of traditional architecture in Spain. The larger balcony belongs to the "noble" floor, with living and dining room, kitchen, etc. The second one, with smaller balcony, for family bedrooms. And, sometimes, just under the roof, the servant's quarters. The balconies function were to see the street without to be seen, behind the blind or late curtain most of the time, and occasionally to see the fiestas and processions (and to be seen, in this case). R 6.2, Apo-Telyt 180, Velvia 50. Thanks for looking.

stuny Posted July 24, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2006 Marc - Lima, Peru has similar balconies for the exact same purpose, though their "screens" are louvered and/or carved wood. Very nice.
marc_dufour Posted July 24, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted July 24, 2006 Stuart, Thanks for looking and information. I'm not surprised with what you say about Lima. Spanish influence, without any doubt :-) Marc
