Andi_77 Posted September 11, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday I found and "reserved" a really nice M9 in Steel Grey in a really nice, well-known store here in Italy. 20k shutter actuations, so not exactly as new, but it looks perfect and there's a one year warranty and the sensor has been replaced in Solms 1 month ago. During the weekend I'll get the payments on eBay for my Canon gear, and next week I'll go back to the store and get my M9. I know, this is not exactly the most interesting post of 2013, but I wanted to share my joy for my first Leica

HSirkka Posted September 11, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2013 I just two weeks ago sold my Nikon d800 + gear for a 10k shutter count M9 So I totally get your excitement! Congratulations, and enjoy!
brooksfletcher Posted September 11, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 11, 2013 Congrats Andi_77! Along with HSirkka, I also genuinly understand how you feel. Switching camera manufacturer, let alone systems, can be an exciting new world full of things to discover. I hope you a smooth transaction and transition

Dannybuoy Posted September 11, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 11, 2013 Welcome to a stage in history :-) M9 was the first camera I ever actually fell in love with. I love the M240 but its a different kind of love. A more mature, easy going love with less baggage. Enjoy your love affair.
otto.f Posted September 11, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 11, 2013 Congrats! A serviced M9 is the best M9 you can get, as Jaap once said and I totally agree from experience
Andi_77 Posted September 11, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted September 11, 2013 Glad to know that! I didn't check the firmware version in the camera, but after a long "search" session here, I found out I can revert to the most stable ones. In the meantime I ordered 2 Lexar and 2 Transcend SD cards, all 16 Gb. Fingers crossed on the compatibility side Oh, and I ordered a Thumbie too! I'm already and fully in the irrational consumerism mode

Andi_77 Posted September 11, 2013 Author Share #14 Posted September 11, 2013 Well, let's say that this purchase is one of the side effects of not having a better half anymore I'm quite happy with the 35-50-90 kit. I'm definitely going to buy a 21 as soon as I sell my Tamron 70-200 2.8 (that is, as soon as those j__ks repair a lens that needs to be fixed 3 months after the purchase...), but I think that I will "stabilize myself" with the 21-35-50-90. You can now save this post and make fun of me in 1 year from now

You can now save this post and make fun of me in 1 year from now The 50mm f1.4 Summilux f1.4 is the best lens ever made. Oh no, wait a minute, the 35mm f1.4 Summilux FLE is the best lens ever made. Actually hold on, the 90mm APO Summicron is the best lens ever made (the Leica handbook implied this), how about the 50mm APO Summicron, slow down there, its obviously the 50 mm Noctilux, no no, wait a minute .... I never spoke to myself when I used Canon

I'm already and fully in the irrational consumerism mode Good move! You've obviously done your research. I'd also purchase a second battery. One extra is more than enough for me, but you may want two if you're a heavy shooter. The M9 battery life is actually pretty good despite what some of the reviews say, no worse than most cameras out there. I think this may be in part because you often get the first shot right with a Leica, rather than putting an autofocus SLR in burst mode and taking seven shots of the same thing, hoping that one of them is a keeper. And I love my Thumbie! Congrats on your new camera
Andi_77 Posted September 12, 2013 Author Share #18 Posted September 12, 2013 The store owner added an extra battery the other day, so I'll start with two of them, and then I'll see

I have never felt so good about producing, or "creating," images on any other camera. There is somethign very special about the M-system cameras ... Just wait until you start on lenses Better hand in your credit card to your better half... ....but I think that I will "stabilize myself" with the 21-35-50-90 ... Nice range! And jaap is correct. Becasue of that I'm a fan of the summarit line. Excellent qaulity for a great price!
