Fill in Flash for Leica Dlux 6

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for an external flash I can bounce off a ceiling and to adjust outside as a soft fill light. It would be ideal if it worked with the TTL electronics of the Leica Dlux 6.

I was looking at a Panasonic DMW-FL360L or perhaps a Metz?

The recommended Leica flash doesn't have an adjustable head

Any advice?

Thanks for your reply. What I'm saying is the Dlux6 is a great all around camera but indoors....in some situations it could benefit from a bounce flash.I was hoping for suggestions from this illustrious form. But it looks like everyone is either happy with the on camera flash or feels that 3200 ISO photos are fine for simple snapshots at a family events?

No, not everyone is happy. I asked a similar question too but it seems that most people don't use external flash. I wanted it for the bounce effect too, but not a Leica brand... :D

Hello LeomaHarpster and thanks for your reply

I just tested a Nikon SB800 set to manual with the Dlux 6,it worked great it produced a nice soft bounce light in a big room ISO100. Unfortunately and as expected shooting manual is not what I'm look for.

I am hopping Panasonic's DMW FL360L will work with Leica's TTL electronics.I was also hoping for advice on any smaller units on the market to suite my needs.

All advice welcome

Hi there,

The Olympus FL36r works, with my D-Lux 5 at least. That's a smaller tilt/swivel flash (two AA cells), but even this one is unwieldly on the D-Lux. I wanted to use it more often, especially indoors etc., but finally refrained. Worth more serious trials, though.

Best,

Alexander
