Horizon Function on the M

Can anybody explain the Horizon function on the new leica M ~ How can you get to stay open in the viewfinder? Do you always have to activate it in the menu everytime you use it?

Unfortunately the answer is yes.

 

One other use for the M button when that gets customizable in the next firmware update (... hopefully)

I had hoped the Horizon function would be visible in the viewfinder of the Leica M when about to take pictures like the electronic spirit level on the Ricoh GXR but it does not appear to function that way. It only seems to be appropriate for use in positioning the camera on a tripod in a vertical and horizontal sense prior to taking the picture. That is the only minor gripe I have about the camera so far, otherwise I am well pleased with it.

I do believe it shows up in the EVF only ~ Have not confirmed this yet.
