Used Leica lenses - price dropping?

Exchange rates could also help you save money, but of course it depends where you live and what currency you are paying in. In New Zealand for example our kiwi dollar is very high especially against the greenback and Sterling. This makes it a good time to buy imported products and to travel, but a bad time for exporters.

I'm thinking of risking far more money than I can afford to cover in speculating on the future price of used Leica lenses. Any chance of a forum bail out on cataclysmic losses incurred by my irresponsible behavior? I'd give you my word to be more cautious in the future, or at least until you'd all forgotten about the last time it happened.

Do you happen to work in a government function by any chance?

Its a good time to make entry to Leica M as used prices are really dropping on lenses. But no so good for those changing their lens setup. Anybody having a though time selling their leica lens?

Yeah....I have a feeling that in order to sell my 1 year old 50mm 1.4 Asph I am going to lose at least $800...I have never lost very much if any money on the sale of a Leica lens..

You are responding to an ancient post, but either way you aren't going to get rich quick in one year or ownership. Three or four years should see the price stable with what you paid, five or six could see you ahead. But the prices of nearly all film cameras and lenses are going up, so lenses that can suit digital or film will be at a premium whatever the market trends.
