As is often the case, you can get to the same place using any number of programs. SE, for example, lets you make contrast adjustments either through the preset filters, or the contrast sliders. You can also select film types that are known for contrast. CEP just provides another avenue to get there. I will say, in some cases CEP has some sliders that can provide more control. It all comes down to the tool you know and personal style and preference.

 

While I have a standard work style that has evolved over time, some time it is fun to purposely mis tune the piano or guitar to see what happens, i. e., experiment.

There a lot of varied tools in CEP that can be used with monochrome, indeed it has its own B&W converter. Just because it is called Color Efex Pro it doesn't mean it stops working if you put a B&W file into it and use one of the appropriate tools that do not require colour information. As is said above, it does no harm to experiment. Don't laugh, but the 'Glamour Glow' filter, if used very carefully, can be a component in getting an old film or old lens look into a digital file.

But Jack uses the MM. I thought you were commenting about your b/w color conversions from another digital M; that's the point of all my questions.

Jeff I am talking about my picture conversions. My normal work flow is to open my pictur in CS6 then run Dfine > vivasa > SEP to convert it to B&W > then fine tune it in CEP

I Gus's when I get the MM I can still follow the same process...............anyways no worries I can play with this on my own when I get the camera. My question was answered with regard to what software comes bundled with the camera

BTW folks, many of the filters within CEP 4 works on images from the Monochrom which has NO color information. The ones that do not work are the ones that add true color filter, Bi-Color, etc.....
