CalArts 99 Posted July 31, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 31, 2013 Obviously the best quality for digital archiving onto film is to use a film recorder for the film outs and at a high resolution (e.g., 8k.) That will give you an image that appears to have originated on film due to the high quality but you'll need to use a pro service bureau. Sure, you can buy used recorders like the old Polaroid HR6000 on eBay for not very much money at all but the interface (e.g., SCSI), the software, and compatibility/practicality of these are not really worth it. And their quality is decent but not all that great Using the Polaroid Film Recorder If it's not for high quality archiving, then the simple way of just getting a file onto reversal film is to photograph it off the monitor or output device. No, it's not the best quality but depending on what you're doing with it you'll at least have the image on film.
