cary Posted July 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have several screw mount compartment cases, is it safe to treat the interior and straps with saddle soap? If not what is the best way to treat the interior of the cases?
Advertisement Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Hi cary, Take a look here Saddle Soap for Leather Case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jc_braconi Posted July 29, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2013 If you know how to use the saddle soap, you know that you have to use water for washing the soap after use, it works on chromed leather but you will make lot of marks on the interiors. I let them as they are or in case there are some strong marks I use lighter fluid or the other names are "F" petrol, aircraft gas, etc
spydrxx Posted July 30, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 30, 2013 The interior shouldn't be treated with saddle soap, that is for exterior use. Likewise the rough (unfinished) side of straps shouldn't be treated with anything...it will weaken the fibres. You can use saddle soap on the finished side of leather.
