IMHO, despite the scenery, the Shropshire Union is one of the dullest of Britain's canals. Having travelled on it several times, the section which has no locks on it is of very little interest for the people on the boat. Plenty of pubs, though, which do compensate... If you want a really good day out on the canals, go to the Tardebigge flight on the Worcester & Birmingham, or the Caen Hill flight on the Kennet & Avon Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I bow to your superior knowledge , yes I recall now that a barge is one of those things that lists to starboard and has a mast, not unlike a telephone pole, amidships. Thanks for the comments folks.
