ymc226 Posted July 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I should have bought the RF-75 system when it was still available but B&H lists it as no longer available. Has anyone used the Seven5 holder/filters on a Leica M240 system?
Advertisement Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Hi ymc226, Take a look here Leica M and Lee Filter Seven5 system. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nicks500 Posted July 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 23, 2013 On the M it should work great but I bought it for my Monochrom and especially close up I get so much finder blockage I find it hard to focus (35 & 50mm lux's) but with live view it should work great
dwbell Posted July 23, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 23, 2013 I use it on my M9's and am desperate to use it on the yet to be seen M240. It's a drag on the M9 to be honest, needs tripod and several stages of focus, find polarisation rotation point, shoot, shift ND grad, shoot, and so on. Should, on paper, be much easier with LiveView. nicks500 Posted July 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 23, 2013 ..... But it is beautifully made, filters seem to be of a very high quality and check out the circ. polariser, great design.... It was just waiting for the M240 to be made
ryankarr Posted July 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2013 Has anyone noticed any vignetting with wide lenses (i.e. 16mm or 18mm)
ymc226 Posted July 23, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted July 23, 2013 Has anyone noticed any vignetting with wide lenses (i.e. 16mm or 18mm) I'm also interested. As such, I didn't get the hood that is available as I plan on using it on my 21 SEM as well as longer lenses.

dwbell Posted July 23, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 23, 2013 Thanks, I just ordered the Seven5 holder, polarizer, Big stopper, ND soft grad set and a few adapter rings. 'Ordering' the Big Stopper and receiving it are two different things! They're in high demand and short supply - not unlike the M240. My widest length is 35 so I'm afraid I can't help you on the vignette question.

Superb quality. The ND filters are also of fine quality and I use them daily. I focus first then add the filter.
Verteidiger Posted October 9, 2013 Share #12 Posted October 9, 2013 Do you use the new Seven5 or the old RF75 Filter Holder with the new M 240? What are the differences? Does the new Big Stopper work with the old RF75 Filter Holder as well or does it work better with the new Seven5 Holder? Is it easier to use the rangefinder with the old RF75 Filter Holder than with the new Seven5 Holder? - Thank you!
stephengv Posted November 6, 2016 Share #13 Posted November 6, 2016 Has anyone tried using a B+W Polarizer and the LeeSeven5 on a 21mm Lens? I'm a bit reluctant buying the Seven5 system since the clip on Polarizer is expensive,
pedaes Posted November 6, 2016 Share #14 Posted November 6, 2016 Has anyone tried using a B+W Polarizer and the LeeSeven5 on a 21mm Lens? I'm a bit reluctant buying the Seven5 system since the clip on Polarizer is expensive, I think it will be a bit tricky. You would have to adjust the Polarizer, then screw the Lee lens adaptor on without disturbing the filter setting, and then be careful mounting the filter holder/filters to again not disturb the Polarizer. I guess it could be done if you take it slowly. The Lee item is expensive but well made and high quality. To help, they hold their value well. Keep an eye on Robert White, they sometimes offer a discount.

stephengv Posted November 7, 2016 Share #16 Posted November 7, 2016 Will the Seven5 vignette on a 21mm Lens?
pedaes Posted November 7, 2016 Share #17 Posted November 7, 2016 Will the Seven5 vignette on a 21mm Lens? If you go on the Lee Website there is a table where they cover this for all Leica lenses under the Seven5 section . The 1.4 isn't and the 3.4 is. Going back to Stephengv's question, with the 'double thickness" of a screw on polariser there is more risk.
Tobers Posted November 7, 2016 Share #18 Posted November 7, 2016 I've written up my experience with the Lee Seven5 system on an M-240 towards the end of this post here, and when using the Lee 10-stop ND filter, and on this landscape post. I don't get any vignetting from the filter holder at 24mm. The filter holder blocking the rangefinder window is a bit of a pain initially, but once you work out that you just have to take the holder off, focus, then pop it on again, everything becomes quite simple. Do watch out for reflections off the back of the filters, and light leaks on long exposures (M-240 in general, not specifically Lee related).
stephengv Posted November 7, 2016 Share #19 Posted November 7, 2016 Well written review. Thank you. I just bookmarked your website. Going back, I don't have a 24mm, I only have a 21CV and 35CRON. I'll primarily use the Lee Seven 5 on the 21mm. Do you think there is a risk of vignetting? stephengv Posted November 7, 2016 Share #20 Posted November 7, 2016 Thanks for the reply. So your saying my 21CV or my "future lens" 21 SEM haha, won't vignette?
