This struck me as a similar view to one of those satellite shots of a rain forest somewhere.

andybarton Posted April 8, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 8, 2007 Thanks folks. It was the ridge route on the left that caught my eye, above the forest on the right.
dan_drabek Posted April 8, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 8, 2007 OK Andy, I'll bite. What is it? A bit of moss, or a closeup of a cow? DD
andybarton Posted April 9, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted April 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, guys. It's plant growth on red sandstone on Hilbre island, 2 1/2 miles off the coast, not far from our house. It's a 45 minute walk across the sand at low tide to get there. We go there to watch the colony of common seals that live on a sand-bank another mile further out. To see the stuff in context, a wider shot is here. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/landscape-travel/21191-seaweed.html Now, all we need is a marine botanist to tell us what it actually is! This was taken at an elevation of around 4 feet.
