M3 Lens "eyed" lens

Recommended Posts

I can purchase an absolute perfect 35mm Summilux with goggles. It looks brand new, the glass is clear and it comes in original box. It has been used obviously, you can see that but it looks really nice, and comes cheap.

I would like to use it on my M4 since i don't have an M3 but wasn't sure if this would be possible.

Thanks for your reply, I will purchase the lens.

Might be a good reason to purchase an M3, but one can only use a certain amount of cameras at one time and I don't want them to sit in cupboard and collect dust, but then again M3's are nice :-)

Johannes,

As Marc mentioned bove, the goggled 35mm lenses can be used practically on any M Leica, even the M8.

The goggles reduce the 50mm frame of your M4's finder to reproduce a 35mm lens' field of view. So - don't panic when using the lens when the 50mm bright line frame is keyed in. Your angle of view will be correct.

One advantage of this set up is that you will see quite a large area outside of the "35mm" frame - this will help with composition.

All the best,

Jan

Johannes, I hope you are lucky as me regarding the Summilux 35, my one is old (not goggled, year '65) but is a absolutely fantastic lens: I made lot of 20x30 with it and have been always astonished by global quality of rendering: I admit not to be a lover of shots at 1,4, and used it very few times wide open, but Summilux is excellent at all the apertures
