Hey guys! I'm thinking to sell my MP, 35 lux, 28 Cron and 50 Sonnar, Coolscan 4000 and Roelliflex (also films and chemicals), and buy a X2 and save a lot of money. I have the M8 as well.

Weeks ago I thought start a project with film but... I never make a wet copy and feel a little bit lazy to learn, despite the high costs.

I love colour (Provia and Ektae and Portra), but prefer black and white, and also sold the Monochrom because Tri X and Neopan are so different..

So now I have all this equipment and don't know where to go and what to do, mainly I have been thinking a few options after sell my gear:

1) Pay a good photography school, get 1 CaNikon and try to obtain a good title.

2) Get the X2 (I miss it) and go far away with my couple, and try to start a long term project.

3)... Stay with all my things and... Well don't known,

4) sell everything less the M8 (or get a M9) and the 35

I'm blowing my mind and need peace, I'm losing the right way speaking about photography..

Thanks!

Pick one body and one lens (either film or digital) and use it exclusively for a month. If you're happy with the results then you'll know if an X-2 is in your future. Equipment overload can be a struggle and often the results can be surprising. Once I dumped a couple of Nikon Fs' and a series of lenses between 20 mm and 500 mm and replaced it with an Olympus XA. I wasn't a professional who needed the tools but just a dedicated amateur wanting to lighten the load. I learned a lot by using that little XA and in the long run made a positive change on the images I was taking. You have a nice kit but don't rush. Use what you have the find a direction.

Yeah, the film cost, I know. But then I blew so much money for buying, trying and selling the latest of the compact high end digitals in the last few years that film lab costs might look like a bargain in comparison. Buy a X2 for USD 2500 with VF and write it off over 3 years or use the same amount to put film into the much better gear you have and which will keep its value (MP and lenses).

You have some really first class, awesome equipment to die for. Maybe it's intimidating you a little & as a result, sits there collecting dust. I'd say keep what you have but start out with some simple techniques for using it that doesn't bog you down or prevent you enjoying it. You don't have to be David Bailey.!:)...get the film processed & scan it yourself. Join an evening class or connect with some weekend street-dogs in your area for photo outings & swapping info. This will likely help turn your enthusiasm into reality one step at a time. Set up a personal website & post your images, even if they get slated. It starts the learning curve. Selling & buying more new gear is not always the best option whereas getting yourself out taking photos & doing something useful with them is.

Good advice already given. You need to sort your mind out. Take a break from photography then ease back in using one of your existing cameras with one or two lenses for one month. Then analyse your results and see how satisfied you are.

Do not rush into selling kit. Only dealers make money out of that action. At present you do not know what to sell anyway.

Seems you're thinking too much about gear and not enough about what you want to do with it.

You sold a Monochrom because you prefer the look of film? Surely there's your answer. An X2 is going to be even less rewarding than the Monochrom in terms of 'look'.

What is this project you were about to start? Why not just press on with that and see how you get on? Then sell/buy stuff if you find you can't achieve what you want photographically speaking with your current gear.

sell the M8 and MP and coolscan

buy a second hand M9

if you are au-fait with computer editing or prepared to learn more you will be happy

can't help you with FL, that's your taste and needs

If you really want to save money and have a hankering after AF, you could sell everything and buy a Fuji body and some lenses, or if you can live with 35mm only a RX1 or X100S, but if you like the Leica look and lenses you are best sticking with the Leica system.
