wda Posted July 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2013 Might it be the prismatic effect caused by sunlight on water droplets?
rsh Posted July 20, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2013 I would tend to agree.
mjh Posted July 20, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2013 These are probably demosaicing artefacts (similar to moiré); in fact it’s a fairly typical example of this phenomenon. I would use the moiré brush in Lightroom to remove the unwanted colour.
adan Posted July 21, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 21, 2013 To expand on Michael's answer - thanks to the lack of an anti-aliasing filter and high-resolution lens, individual small solar highlights on the water and droplets are landing on just one pixel (or mostly just one), and thus only recording in one color channel (roughly in the ratio of the Bayer color filters: green 2, red 1, blue 1). The upside - extremely high luminance (black to white) resolution. The downside - weaker color resolution in some subject patterns, leading to artifacts.
