doolittle Posted July 23, 2013 Share #21 Posted July 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am bringing my M6 classic, 50 lux, 35 cron, and VC28 Ultron, and a meter. Currently I have many rolls of hp5, fp4, and portra400 in the refrigerator. Which film should I bring and how many rolls. Should I only bring my 50/28? or just the 35 ? Anything else I need? Spare battery for the M6. Personally I would go 50/28 (or even 50/35). I would also bring only one variety of film (so either Portra or HP5 ). I like the advice on the film, think of a number and double it. Or in my case, if travelling with children, halve it!

costakarl Posted July 24, 2013 Share #22 Posted July 24, 2013 Just returned from UK/ France with MP and R9 cameras and have a couple of observations to make: European cities are very cluttered so any lens longer than 35mm is not useful. I should have taken my widest lenses. Film will cost double what one pays in North America and can be harder to find. Bon voyage! Costakarl

Costakarl Like so many commenters costakarl, you have expressed a personal opinion on lens choice. As I am on record elsewhere as stating, I say again here that lens choice can ONLY be personal according the shooters style and intention. It has NOTHING to do with how crowded a location may be, or for that matter, how wide open it is. The lens is determined by your vision and relativity between the camera and the motif. What is in between does not affect your focal length choice. As for film choice, I have already expressed my view on that in this thread.
kivis Posted July 25, 2013 Share #24 Posted July 25, 2013 Recently got back from a long trip. M3 and a CV 40/1.4. That was it, and 23 rolls of XP2. Can't wait to develop.
doc steel Posted July 25, 2013 Share #25 Posted July 25, 2013 use your 50 and the 35 and a lot of HP5. i can recommend that, because i live between prague and budapest in vienna and know both cities good like the back of one's hand.
