mmx_2 Posted July 15, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello guys! Got my M240 three weeks ago and I'm quite happy with it. Now the real question comes, I've been using an M8 Panda that I bought in feb 2009 up until now. It has about 13000actuations and has never failed me. Should I keep or sell it? I'll probably won't be using it so much anymore since I'm more of a "one camera guy" and I also see some difficulties using it together with the M240 because of the IR-filters. If it was a "standard M8" I would probably sell it directly but since it's the Panda version I'm thinking of whether or not it will be a future collectible. There are not that many made (100 something) but normally all "digital things" have very little collectors value. So what do you feel about it? The camera is of course no where near perfect mint since I've used it a lot, but still...
Advertisement Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Hi mmx_2, Take a look here M8 Panda, sell or keep?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted July 15, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2013 It won't be 'collectible' so unless you want it as a back-up then sell it.
gbealnz Posted July 15, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 15, 2013 I'd say sell it. I have a collectable Leica Digilux 4.3, my first digital, still going strong. All it really collects though is dust. Love it? yep. appreciating in value? Doubt it. Maybe the Panda will be different, but I agree, anything electric is down not up. Gary
hepcat Posted July 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2013 I have an M8 anti-panda as well. It appears that they can bring about twice the $1.5k that a standard M8 brings.. They're not appreciating certainly, but they're not depreciating at the same rate as the standard M8s. I just use mine regularly and have no interest in selling it, but I thought that was interesting.
-Lss- Posted July 17, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 17, 2013 It appears that they can bring about twice the $1.5k that a standard M8 brings.. Any working M8 should bring much more than that over here (and where OP is).
tobey bilek Posted July 17, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 17, 2013 I always have a back up camera. I use the uv/ir filters on the M9 also since I have them. Do you ever find situations where you do not want to change lenses but need another focal?
