peterb Posted July 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently went into the Leica Store in Washington, D.C. (which is really nice by the way) and handled the X2 for the first time. (It was actually my first X ANYTHING). I felt the AF was very snappy even in the minimal light inside the store and, much to my surprise, that the body was not as small as I'd previously thought. In fact with the optional grip it was about perfect for me. One thing I really liked was the accessory EVF which I figured would be nice considering I had previously had the Digilux 2 and the Panasonic G1. I understand the 1.4 million dot Olympus VF-2 is compatible with the X2 (mostly because it's apparently it's the same EVF but in slightly more expensive German clothing). But my question is does anyone know whether Olympus' new 2.36 million dot VF-4 is just as compatible? THAT would make for a VERY nice finder for the X2. And being listed at $280 (US) that would make it even nicer. Thanks.
Advertisement Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Hi peterb, Take a look here X2 EVF question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jlindstrom Posted July 13, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2013 At present the VF-4 doesn't work with any Leica camera. They would need a firmware upgrade for it to work. It's unlikely to happen, unless Leica re-brands the VF-4 also. //Juha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
brill64 Posted July 22, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2013 +1.. Olympus's new 2.36 million dot VF-4 is not currently compatible with X1/X2/Vario or M I'm guessing that Leica will announce an EVF-3 but no one can say when.
