pauledell Posted July 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2013 Adam, A very impressive graffiti job. I wonder how many cans of spray paint the artist used. Paul
Karl G Posted July 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2013 Brilliant work actually, much better than billboards.
stuny Posted July 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 12, 2013 Adam - Quite lovely. If you go down to street level you'll find interesting murals directly below that and on the other side of the building, as well as a fanciful take on Michelangelo's David in sculpture form in the walking mall to the left of that building. A miller Posted July 12, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted July 12, 2013 Hi Stuart - thanks for your comment. Indeed, I highly recommend making time to enjoy this part of NYC, including the hand-shaved ice (from an actual block) and the cold-brewed coffee... Morry Katz Posted July 19, 2013 Share #8 Posted July 19, 2013 Personally I prefer Alfred Eisenstadt's original in b&w taken on VJ day in 1945 in San Fransisco I believe.
stuny Posted July 19, 2013 Share #9 Posted July 19, 2013 On the 45th anniversary of VJ day the city had a huge sculpture of the iconic photo placed in Times Square for about a week. sblitz Posted July 19, 2013 Share #10 Posted July 19, 2013 yup, great part of town, nice shot of an excellent mural -- hard to call that graffiti. the scrawl above it, a different story .... thanks for posting
A miller Posted July 19, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks very much, Stuart and Steven. On reflection, I agree that this is really just a colorful billboard rather than grafitti.
