For the benefit of those of us who will (given long enough!) be using their new M camera exclusively with R lenses, does anyone know whether or not the R-M adapter comes complete with its own caps?

The equally expensive and extremely well made Novoflex adapter includes the instructional paper inside the plastic box. No caps. B&H's R adapter listing - in the box - says:One Year Limited Warranty. Maybe Leica is taking a page from Novoflex. Without any glass involved Leica may not include them.

Agree with Daryl, as the R-M adapter has no glass why bother, personally I think it would add more bulk

to it especially the rear cap, could end up to becoming nearly the same size as some M lenses.

My two Novaflex Canon to Leica adapter came in a plastic box, the caps on both ends certainly makes them bigger.

Well, the adapter can collect dust and transfer it to the sensor, no?

Image of Novaflex adapter with caps, remember the Leica R to M will be bigger again.

The Leica and all other digital cameras I've owned have sensors that double as dust magnets, despite great avoidance measures just short of a clean room. I don't see the dust mostly, the sky being the exception.

Concerning bulk, I am selling all but one R lens, I find them too large for the M, the camera balance with M lenses is perfect, not with the R's. The case helps and the grip should also but then it isn't the same M. Those beautiful R lenses didn't go to waste, they sell for a premium and I purchased an S2...talk about bulk, and beautiful files.

I particularly want an R body cap, simply because I would like to keep the adapter on the camera all the time. Presumably people keep an M body cap on their M when it's in a case separate from its M lenses? I would like to do the same. OK then, if I need one, I'll buy one. There's a cheap clone available.

John-I just bought some newish R body and lens caps on fleabay from somewhere in the US. They fit just fine.

I keep the adapter on my most used R lens and then put an M lens cap on it.

Algrove, thanks for this - yes that is indeed the other way of doing it. For me, my original way round would actually be preferable, because I do a lot of tripod based photography, and so it would be convenient to have the R-M adapter complete with its own supplementary tripod support, kept on the camera, rather than on the lens.

If thats the case John, I fully understand, my apologises, I mis read your post.

In my case, I keep one adapter permanently attached to the canon DSLR with a lens attached to it.

John-Understand. As I have the Novoflex adapter already (could not wait nearly a year for the Leica one) I will keep the Novoflex attached to my go to telephoto lens with incorporated tripod mount or an R lens where I keep an STA-1 permanently attached.

However since I have plenty of M bodies now I will use your idea on at least one in order to use with say the R 15/2,8 which is my favorite WA lens on the M.
