Advertisement Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Hi kasti, Take a look here SLR lenses for old Leica M's film. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted June 30, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2013 The register differences are too great to get infinity focus - SLR/DSLR lenses typically have a much greater distance between the lens flange and the film plane.
earleygallery Posted July 1, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2013 You can buy adaptors to fit SLR lenses to an M (which solve the problem mentioned above) but you won't have any way to focus apart from guesswork, and of course the lenses are generally much larger. If you have lenses you wish to use, it makes more sense to buy a suitable SLR body for them.

plewislambert Posted July 6, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 6, 2013 I used a Nikkor 28mm f2 on a Chinese adapter with my M4-P and it gave the usual Nikon images. The lens intruded into the viewfinder a little. Focussing by scale at f8 was no problem. Voigtlander lenses were smaller so I moved to them. Later I bought a 28mm Leica M lens. Currently I also use a Nikkor 28mm PC (shift lens) on an M9; it is possible to get good results with practice. (Best used with a tripod and spirit-level). More useful would be the 24mm Olympus shift lens but they are scarce. For interiors of cathedrals and palaces I also use a Tokina 17mm Olympus-mount lens plus adapter and a Voigtlander 15mm viewfinder and it works well on digital and film Leicas. I could send you a recent picture from a walk round the palaces at Greenwich, if you are interested. Philip
