Today I bought another new battery and confirmed the camera is dead. And also confirmed my battery is good as it was tested with another M; perfectly working.

Very disappointed with the QC department and somehow lost confidence in Leica.

The camera just returned from fixing the eyelets and cleaning the sensor less than two weeks ago from Germany!

So my advice is don't buy the first batch! ever!

Camera back from eyelet repair ( they weren't loos by why take chances) A few days latter when out to run errands with camera that I assumed was a mostly charged battery or so it was the night before. After a couple shots I was informed by the camera battery was dead. Camera is set to power down after two minuets. That evening I recharged battery 100% After an hour of being in a powered down camera battery dropped to 85% The next morning nothing.

I don't even have a chance to restart the camera after taking few shots in the morning last Sunday, and went completely dead in the evening.

The camera is on its way back to Leica. I am requesting a new replacement and turn down the offer of another loan camera as I lost the confidence.

I am leaving for France on 11th for my annual holiday, and this is really bad and disappointed!

I am using my Nikon to back up and D-Lux 5...speechless!

Each Leica M is a handcrafted product in every detail and may only leave the factory after being tested' date=' checked and adjusted for so long until its flawless finish and performance are guaranteed and fulfil the exhaustive quality demands on which the worldwide reputation of Leica is founded. This commitment to precision and quality has been the the core principle of Leica manufacturing for almost a century. The endurance, reliability and perceived value of Leica products have been instrumental in the creation of the Leica legend.[/quote']

Perhaps turning on isn't on their "exhaustive quality demand" list.

Are you sure, it's the camera?

To me,that sounds like a typical battery problem. Do you have another battery to try? After a long time, they may need a full discharge/charge cycle. If they are dead, perhaps a new battery may help, which still can be found from 3rd parties e.g. on eBay.

Luakbay hasn't visited the forum for over five years so, unfortunately, you might not get a reply to your question anytime soon.

As far as your own camera is concerned; are you talking about an M9 (series) body? If so I'm not sure I understand quite what it is that you wish / hope / want to happen. Production of the M9 ended 12 years ago so if you have only had it for three weeks from whom are you expecting to receive "a new replacement not repair"? The dealership which sold you the camera?

Where will they be able to source a "new replacement" M9?

:-k

Am I overlooking something important here?

Philip.

The OP hasn't visited the forum since 2019...The camera was an M240 and his problems were most likely caused by a fake SD card. However in the end the camera developed a sensor defect (in 2014) - a scratch by the look of it-  and as we have no follow-up posts I assume everything was resolved

i want to know how they resolved the problem. My cam is brand new M11-P which is dead after 23 days old.

However, the dealer is pushing Leica for new replacement because their product has faulty just under 1 month.
