This would appeal to me as well. It "could" be thinner and simpler. While the RD1 had an LCD, ISO was a manual setting within the shutter speed dial, just as was done on most metered film cameras. White balance? - have it shoot RAW only and handle in post, or a "daylight/tungsten film reminder" dial. Lots of ways besides an LCD to indicate battery, and with today's SD cards, you don't really need an exposures remaining indicator. Coded lenses don't need the lens menu. Most other menu settings are just feature-creep. We handled film for decades with just a few settings and got along fine.

If there were a FF RD1 I'd be tempted.
