Mantice Posted June 25, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted June 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seldom use the collar on my 280/4 and try it on this week - the collar is extremely hard to rotate and very gritty; I need to use force similar to opening a new jars of jam. Â Rotate few times and doesn't smooth it out - has anyone have such experience and is there ways to smooth it out without sending the lens back?? Advertisement Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi Mantice, Take a look here Collar telephoto lenses - very stiff rotation. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted June 25, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted June 25, 2013 I just received a used, 3rd cam 280/4 today and the collar is smooth. It has detents at portrait and landscape points but is smooth in between. It sounds like yours might need a service. Â Pete.
Mantice Posted June 26, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted June 26, 2013 Thanks~ I do hope I can smooth it out without the need to send it back - so many hassles! Â I think its over 5 yrs since I own it, and at least 3~4 yrs without using the tripod collar. I never let any dirt or sand get close to my lens but I do often put the lens in a very dry environment when I'm not using it.
