Thomv Posted June 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there any difference between the US and the rest of the world versions of the original Leica DLUX-6 batteries? Other than part numbers and UL listing or CE marked of course. The US version seems to be better priced.
Advertisement Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hi Thomv, Take a look here Differences between DLUX-6 batteries?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jip Posted June 18, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2013 I would assume that they are identical, maybe they comply to different rules? like the FCC etc.
jank Posted June 20, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2013 If you are looking for a cheaper one yet, you can find them on web. They go for $18 incl. charger and shipping. The cheapest went for $12. generally the generic ones have lower capacity ( 1350mAh) you can guess it by weight, there is apparently a smaller battery inside. Chemistry must be same for compatibility reasons. The difference might be in how Leica determines the number of pictures left. It is difficult to find where they come from ( the maker) since mold marks on battery plastic housing seem to be same from several different suppliers. If you worry about battery leaking, take battery out for storage. You can buy 5 generic batteries and charger for the price of red dot one.I am buying these since Digilux 1 was introduced. pay attention to the charger and proper plug.Once I got one ( to my US address) that works only on 120V. stuny Posted June 21, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2013 I was under the impression that the off-brand batteries would not work -- That the Panasonic and Leica versions only work with batteries they "recognize."
Thomv Posted June 21, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 21, 2013 Naah, cheap Chinese batteries can be ok, but often not. You wan't notice the lack of the protection circuitry, until you have a problem. I like original stuff. Although this camera is really a Panny:D:D:D I received the UL version and it works great!! ajthornbury Posted June 21, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 21, 2013 My d-lux5 would not work off a Panasonic version of battery.
jank Posted June 22, 2013 Share #7 Posted June 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My wife's DLUX6 works with 4 different "brands" of generic batteries. They also get charged with either Leica or generic charger. I have checked it all thoroughly before my trip to EU. The only problem I ever had was with Sony battery , NEX camera said 'please use Sony battery " and refused to work. This warning popped up after about 10 recharges.
