chris_tribble Posted June 24, 2013 Share #21 Posted June 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Chris, are you refering to an adaptator made by Wilson Laidlaw to adapt canon FD lens on Leica M? I'd be very interested in that (macro and long lenses), where can I find the information? Cheers Cyrille Cyrille - Wilson's successfully adapted a Canon 70-200 Tripod Ring so that you can use it with the R 80-200. This is very different for an FD to M adaptor. I've bought one of these from ebay (Fotodiox) and then had it coded by Malcolm Taylor - works very well with my Canon 300 f4 (which has a built in mount and ring)... I think this is the thing you're looking for.

I'd be very interested in that (macro and long lenses), where can I find the information? Cheers Cyrille Cyrille, I arranged for an adapter to be made to fit Visoflex lenses direct on an M240 body, in effect a 41mm M to M extension tube with a male 28/90 framelines bayonet and coding pits. In effect a reissue of the old Leitz 543195 adapter. It does work but very unusually for this maker, it was not very well made. The male bayonet was too loose and the female too tight. Although it does work, it is not 100% satisfactory, so I could not recommend it at present. The maker has not responded to my gentle nudges asking him about the bayonet tolerances, so I have just left it. As Chris commented, I can also modify the Canon A-W 66mm tripod support ring (either original or one of the many copies of this) to fit on the 80-200/f4 Vario Elmar-R Wilson
cdh Posted June 25, 2013 Share #23 Posted June 25, 2013 Thanks a lot for the detailed answers. I have also the FD 300mm F4L and a bunch of lenses, specially macro (below, 35mm macro etc) that could (will) find good use on the new M. I'll buy the novoflex FD-M (LEMCAN) adapter. I don't think it bring the correct framelines though? Cyrille

These are nicely made and can be ordered with 28/90 bayonet and coding grooves. Their English and French are limited and you need to make the exact specifications of your order VERY clear to them. If you have an Italian speaking friend to translate your order, so much the better. They have a tendency to send you what they think you need rather than what you actually wanted I think, unless they have changed recently, all Novoflex adapters come with the 50/75 bayonet with no option. There is some muttering that bayonets other than 28/90 can access the R menu, when coded 110111 but this is 100% different to what I was told by the development director of the M240 program at Leica, so I would be very surprised if that was the case. Novoflex adapters are a little more difficult to code as they are anodised black. Wilson
