algrove Posted June 19, 2013 Share #21 Posted June 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can you give some details on silver tape...is this similar to film splicing tape? The poor quality iphone picture could have distortion??? There is some blur showing. Daryl- Not sure about the tape. There is a whole other thread on the R-M adapter, perhaps here but for sure under R products. Maybe do a search.
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Hi algrove, Take a look here R-adapter-M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
darylgo Posted June 20, 2013 Share #22 Posted June 20, 2013 A L39 to M adapter I have is framelined for 50mm and has the coding pits. To see if my R to M adapter is an anomaly I coded the pits for the R to M adapter and the R menu came up. I am able to select any lens from the R menu. The framelines in the viewfinder are 50/75. The adapter was purchased in 2012, here's a link to the same adapter and seller: 6 Bit SM to M Adapter for Leica Voigtlander LTM M39 50mm 75mm Lens for M8 M9 | eBay If I was serious about using my L39 lenses on the M I would purchase a Leica adapter, this one needed custom modification and severely binds. Lindolfi Posted June 20, 2013 Share #23 Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks Daryl. If it is true that the framelines cam is unimportant that certainly opens up options for other adapters.
darylgo Posted June 20, 2013 Share #24 Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks Daryl. If it is true that the framelines cam is unimportant that certainly opens up options for other adapters. I'd be interested if a 35/135 non coded lens would bring up the R menu, if I get some time later I'll attempt this.
AlanJW Posted June 20, 2013 Share #25 Posted June 20, 2013 I just coded a Novoflex R to M adapter. It does NOT bring up 28/90 framelines. However, when coded, it shows in the camera menu as the R-M adapter, and my Vario Elmar 35-70 f/4 can be selected and works just fine. I believe the information previously disseminated that the mount had to be 28/90 is incorrect. It appears to me that any mount will work, so long as the adapter is properly coded. algrove Posted June 20, 2013 Share #26 Posted June 20, 2013 Alan-Is your Novoflec adapter the LEM-LER? If so, is the mount black? How did you code it if it is black? Put a white mark for the one area needing silver/white?

This is an adapter I would seriously consider, are there any issues you have found with this adapter? Also, what framelines are visible in the viewfinder? Thanks. AlanJW Posted June 20, 2013 Share #28 Posted June 20, 2013 Alan-Is your Novoflec adapter the LEM-LER? If so, is the mount black? How did you code it if it is black? Put a white mark for the one area needing silver/white? It is LEM-LER. I bought it use some time ago, well before I got my M240. It had a silver (or perhaps it is gray) strip on the mount where the 6 bit codes go. I just used a sharpie to ink in the right places. It was easy enough even though the strip is not "pitted" for individual "dots". I believe it brings up 50/75 framelines. Certainly not 28/90. As for problems, none so far but I have had my M240 only 2 weeks and did not use the adapter until today when I coded it. Novoflex products are well made and expensive. Like Leicas. 8-). algrove Posted June 21, 2013 Share #29 Posted June 21, 2013 I have the LEM-LER also, but my mount is black anodized, so I was thinking of putting some white marks on it where it requires a "0".
algrove Posted June 21, 2013 Share #30 Posted June 21, 2013 I scratched off the black to get sown to silver in position 3, but still no luck. Come on' Leica ship some of these.
darylgo Posted June 21, 2013 Share #31 Posted June 21, 2013 I scratched off the black to get sown to silver in position 3, but still no luck. Come on' Leica ship some of these. I couldn't scratch up an adapter but since it is done a few thoughts. My adapter was finicky about placement, just before it clicks in look at your menu and see if it comes up, this would eliminate slight deviation to one side but not the other. Take a sharpie and blacken the dark areas, this is a long shot but worth a few minutes.
Lindolfi Posted June 21, 2013 Share #32 Posted June 21, 2013 Daryl, I've succeeded to code a Novoflex LEM/CAN adapter, which brings up the 50/75 frame lines. So I can confirm that the 28/90 framelines cam is not needed.

Or bringing up the lens menu as well? Thanks.
Lindolfi Posted June 21, 2013 Share #37 Posted June 21, 2013 It grays out the word "Automatic" in the lens detection menu. It highlights "Manual" and when you select that it shows a list of 21 R lenses that you can manually select from.

wlaidlaw Posted June 21, 2013 Share #39 Posted June 21, 2013 This is all very strange. Both Jono and I had a discussion with Jesko von Oeynhausen on this matter in March, just before the release of the 1.1.0.2 FW. We requested that 55-1, 2 and 3 would all bring up the R lens menu, rather than just 55-3. We were told very definitely that this was not possible, with the implication that 55-1 and 55-2 were being reserved for other purposes. It is therefore a real surprise that that framelines other than 28/90 when allied to the 55 (110111) code, bring up the R lens menu. Wilson PS I will try it later on my R to M adapter which is 35/135 framelines, when my warranty replacement M240 arrives from Solms, hopefully early next week. It is therefore a real surprise that that framelines other than 28/90 when allied to the 55 (110111) code, bring up the R lens menu............ I remember the reports about those discussions and that's why when I ordered Leitax R-M adapters with coding pits I specified they bring up the 28/90 frame line pair. I wonder if the other frame line pairs are reserved for future use and when new firmware supporting the reserved functions is released adapters not bringing up the 28/90 lines will no longer operate correctly.
