Replacing VC thread mount with Bayonet Mount

Quite an operation. Buy a mount, have a ring machined to a 0.01 mm tolerance, remove the screwmount, drill and thread screwholes and montage and check using an optical bench. I think the lens will end up costing the same as the equivalent Leica lens. And the adapter rings are so good one does not even notice the difference to a fixed mount. If you don't like the idea of a removable mount, you could use a drop of superglue.

If I buy a Cosina Voigtlander lens with a Thread Mount and want the mount permanently replaced with an M Bayonet mount, rather than using thescrewmount to bayonet mount adapter, can I have this done? If so, who and where?

I don't quite understand why you would want to go through the trouble and expense of doing his when the adapters are hardly noticeable and work just fine. You would be gaining no functional benefit at all. It would also probably cost as much as some of the VC lenses cost.

Nestor,

I am agreeing with Jaap and Alan on this. In fact, I was quite glad that I did NOT have a permanent mount on my CV 15/4.5 lens, as I was able to change the CV 28/90 mount for an older Leica 9cm LTM mount by simply unscrewing it. Now I have the option of being able to apply a coding sequence to the 9cm mount for the WATE. Had I permanently mounted a bayonet to the CV 15 from the start, I might not have been able to make this change so easily. Just worth considering. The mounts work well and are very unobtrusive.
