I am a life-time M user, but professionally have used Nikon SLR and DSLR and film Leicas. I have a D700, D300 and D2x with a raft of Nikon lenses. I also have all my film Leicas and lenses. I recently sold off some surplus Nikon gear and am eagerly awaiting a demo M9-P camera. I feel like I'm coming home again and can hardly wait to shoot digital M, especially for the Leica look and to shed some weight off my shoulder while travelling. I will still use the Nikons when the job requires. As someone said here, horses for courses! And good on ya for having the $$$ for toys and enjoying them! Go out making fun about photography and your Nikon's, you left Leica behind you and now it's Nikon time, the D800E is an extremely good camera. To me it sounds like you prefer to have the newest toy, so i think you will never be satisfied with any camera. I looked at you gallery's and saw some nice photo's, please focus on making photo's instead of buying camera's/lenses every 10 months (i noticed you bought your Leica stuff summer 2012). Neill i'm not meaning to be blunt, but felt the need to "say". I looked at your Photography, you are hardly in any position to make judgements about anyone else's skills. Believe me! Courtesy is required on this forum and your post is devoid of it. Skill in a craft is not a requirement to be able to make judgements, but may be an asset. I don't remember ever being faced with a photographic assignment for which it was in any way difficult to decide which camera to use. Horses for courses. It is not a replacement for a DSLR. 3. no If you want to buy the M for the image quality only I think that is a mistake. It is right up there with the best the competion can offer, but there are at least a dozen cameras on the market which can take images so that are so good that is makes absolutely no difference which one you used for the end result. The thing to look at now is ergonomics, does the camera offer the features that match your style of shooting and suchlike. Maybe you could include the rendering of the lenses in the equation, but even that is debatable. The most honest answer as to why anyone should use a Leica (or not). And I have the feeling that the answer to #1 will soon be or already is "almost". I doubt it will ever be completely readily available, but calling around one should be able to pick one up within a month if not quicker.
