Doc Henry Posted August 13, 2016 Author Share #19806 Posted August 13, 2016 It sure is a great way to buy your produce Henry, one of the many things we loved about France. Our stay in Aix-en-Provence was very memorable, we stayed a very short distance from the market square where the Hotel de Ville is situated. All of our requirements were close at hand. From that trip, and using the M6 and 35 Summicron. Not as colourful as your, but a slice of French life. Gary Edit: Just checked Google Maps. It would appear this is "Place de la mairie". Gary superb shot of open market at Aix also a nice place. B&w tone is very nice. Thanks for posting Henry

gbealnz Posted August 14, 2016 Share #19814 Posted August 14, 2016 Nice photographs, and I've never seen that street with that little traffic! Indeed, good point, very good point. It bought back memories of when we stayed around the corner in 2007, wifi was relatively new (to us anyway) and we used it extensively at the golden arches across from the station. Gypsies frequented the place too, so we were extra vigilant. Gary

The two restaurants opposite the station are both excellent.

Gypsies frequented the place too, so we were extra vigilant. Gary Thanks, Gary. I've stayed in that area several times, and enjoy the hustle and bustle (plus it's very convenient). The two ladies at the lower centre of the portrait-oriented photo are part of a team of about 7 doing pro-active begging with the taxis arriving. It's interesting watching them at work, and they are not aggressive. There are other people there who are quite aggressive, but generally only when fueled by artificial means. On the last night, the riot police were out in full force, corralling a protest against Black deaths in custody. My family and I walked through the line, through the protest, and out the other line without any problems, and the end result was amicably negotiated in time for the police to enjoy an onsite meal. The police appeared extremely professional in their handling of the situation.

A miller Posted August 14, 2016 Share #19820 Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Hello Friends - Greetings from Jerusalem. I have finally gotten a handle on my paranoia and had my film developed in Tel Aviv. Very glad I did b/c I realized that, after processing some test rolls, I have been underexposing my velvia 50. I was able to salvage some of the rest by pushing the processing by 1/2 a stop. If they scan ok, it could actually be quite cool as I got vignetting and major wet paint colors. I will have to wait until I get home to know for sure. In the meantime, I will go out and retake my favorite shots with the precious rolls of velvia 50 that I have left. I have learned a lot about the relative exposure needed to correctly expose prove 100F and velvia 50. It aint a simple matter of increasing the exposure by one stop for velvia 50 vs the provia. The velvia needs quite a bit more light, whereas the provia is pretty true to the incident meter reading, at least for evenly lit scenes. In any case, out of desperation to get a glimpse of the 50+ rolls that I have had developed so far, I have come across a smart phone/ipad app that has, in some minuscule way, changed my life. If you don't know about it, it will doubt doubt change your life, too, at least to the same minuscule extent. The app allows you to view your C41 negative film as a positive image on your iPhone or iPad. The app is called Light Box Loupe https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/light-box-loupe/id1025400139?mt=8 Once the app is installed, the negatives should be placed on a light box. Next open the LB Loupe app on your iPhone or iPad and select the invert color setting. This will activate the camera on your iPhone or iPad. Next simply move your iPhone/ipad over the negatives and, voila, you will see the image converted into COLOR! I have pasted some examples below. It should be noted that the color will not be perfect, or even close to perfect. But it will nevertheless give you a good thumbnail view of the image in positive color format, which will provide a sense of what the image will look like, which may help save needless scanning time and even help quell that overwhelming sense of impatience that many of us feel when we get our negatives back from the lab. I would also note that this same exercise can be achieved without the app. To do this, go to settings, then general, then accessibility, then invert colors. Then open your camera and scan the negative (which should be on a light box). The colors are not very good at all (way too cool) in this approach and so it is not very useful, and $0.99 price of the app is well worth getting a little better colors. Having said this, this non-app approach would work perfectly well for B&W negatives; to do this you should also go to the Settings/General/Accessibility section and activity the "grayscale" setting. Here are some crude examples from some of my negatives. Welcome, dear visitor!
