EoinC Posted July 10, 2016 Share #18243 Posted July 10, 2016 Been there, done that, six years ago this Thursday. Very sad. Stay strong and try to make the best of it. There is good that can come out of these moments. Thanks, Adam. My Mother's mind is gone, but the body keeps functioning. My Father's body is shot, but his mind keeps functioning. He was expecting to outlast her, but it doesn't look that way, now.

Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 10, 2016 Share #18246 Posted July 10, 2016 Yes Eoin I agree with you we can now also shoot .... with our smartphone Yes "practical" sure but not "artistic" in the true sense of the term , I remind you Monet Watch a Monet painting that remains in our mind Watch a real nice picture that remains Look at a picture of smartphone .... Bof .... and sometimes you can ask this type of question https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/05/huawei-confirms-that-smartphone-cameras-still-arent-dslrs/ Thanks for your comment Best Henry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's been about 9 years for my Mother, which has been very difficult for my Father. I guess the thing that's worse than getting old is not getting to get old.

chrism Posted July 10, 2016 Share #18249 Posted July 10, 2016 Photos are a comfort, and keep happier days in mind. Occasionally I get out the boxes of family photos I have inherited and scan them. I came across this one of my father, evidently post-war as he is missing the right index finger, looking like quite the dandy in his suit with his pipe, stick and gloves. He probably had my mother take the photo and developed and printed it himself. I started out with his Gnome enlarger and tanks. Chris

I guess the thing that's worse than getting old is not getting to get old.EoinMy mum also has lived with dimenturr for the last 5 years and even though she has no idea who I am she tells me her son is nice and lives overseas. On Friday she told my wife that the guy who just went into the spec shop ( me ) was a nice guy. Fit as a fiddle but but the cheese slipped off the cracker. All we can do is make sure that every time we meet she has a good time and that mum doesn't get stressed out......... Which can easily happen Neil Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MarkP Posted July 10, 2016 Share #18251 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) I know what you mean Chris. This one was of my wife's mother (front row in black dress & hat) in 1948. Original photo was in terrible condition (can't find the original scan right now) and took me hours to restore in PS. Interesting ears and hair on the man in the back row - fortunately not passed down through the family ;-) Welcome, dear visitor! There is good that can come out of these moments. Yes I am with Eoin. Bad disease and bad news. Research continue for this disease disaster. But you have now some hope in the treatment and especially in prevention. Stress developed in countries we say "civilized" contribute greatly to the establishment of the disease and also pesticides in our environment Lovely pictures Eoin Best H. Chris Chris, very touching this photo, I like much for the side memory which reminds us good times. Guest JMF Posted July 10, 2016 Share #18260 Posted July 10, 2016 My "scanning" of M/F continues, this an older 500C/M (6x6) Ektachrome EPR100 slide. I've changed tack slightly, "built" a copy-stand that holds my X-Vario (and not just to keep it in the family, the X-Vario does a pretty good job). An Elpro Vib rounds out the optical train. The vignetting is on the original, I suspect (from the deepness of the sky) that I used a polarizing filter (as you did last century), and this may have vignetted. Gary Very nice Gary !!
