Eoin - very impressive results from the Ektar, particularly with the skin tones.

Thanks, Adam (on behalf of the Ektar emulsion). I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying colour, although I must admit that my heart lies with b&w. I'm looking forward to getting a scanner so that I can take some control of the process. I have noticed that, in the films that I've shot since getting the M6 in August, there has not been a single frame with unsalvageable exposure (same can't be said for focus or composition, but that's down to the numpty pushing the button).

Well, Gary, you'll just have to come to NYC now, won't you. :)

Adam,

Perhaps an alternative would be for you to turn up here in good old Europe...

First, here's my "protection" payment to Marc for the day...

Anonymous New Yorker stampede...

M-A 28mm summaron, Portra 400

Does Marc run a - sort of - extortion racket here on the forum  ???

In my neighbourhood is a pedestrian and bicycle underpass where it is legal and encouraged for graffiti artists to be busy.

Once a year there's even a weekend long festival. Anyway, here's a nice little detail of one of the murals for you, on your

favourite film of course.

My first try with Galaxy paper—I contributed to their Kickstarter about six months ago, and they went to Russia to get some paper coated with a fast emulsion, and it arrived this week. Many people were annoyed when the purported reversal paper turned out to be ordinary (but fast) paper, with reversal processing required. Harman make a direct reversal paper and it was hoped this would be the same. For myself, I am happy with the product save for one annoyance. Most photographic printing paper has an ISO of 3. This is said to be 125, and I metered it that way, allowed for a third of a stop of bellows compensation—my 450mm lens was extended to 600mm to focus this close—and it came out just right. My only problem is that when looked at 100% magnification there are all sorts of black speckles on the film. I don't think these are from my water supply.

Chamonix 10x8, Nikkor 450mm/f9, Galaxy paper negative, Ilford Multigrade developer, Epson V850 scan:

The trio of trees make for a pleasing, well balanced composition enhanced by the mist and tones.  Personally I would clone out the posts so that there are no distractions from the main subject - but that's just me ;)

Very nice, Eoin.  I am impressed at the consistent exposure correctness you are getting from the Ektar.  It is a tough film to get right in non-totally controlled situations.

Christoph - Why would I want to do that when people like yourself come to NYC to visit me? :) :)  I do hope we get to spend some quality time together in May...

I seem to have posted Portra here, I do shoot Fuji as well, what about Allium?

Wow, Chris, all are amazing and I am blown away by the first one in particular.  What camera and lens?

Very nice, Keith.  The vignetting you add is much more natural looking on this large negatives vs 35mm.  (speaking about the Silbury Hill Photo) Very nice.  The tree in this photo has a sensual twist to it...

Can I agree on the Ektar? I have never been happy with my results, probably my lax exposure control!!

All three of mine are on the Hasselblad H1 with the 80mm f2.8 HC. The apple with an extension tube 13mm I think, I have the set so can be confused!!

Adam,

Ektar it is. When Kodak first launched this version a few years back, I got a free sample at the Photokina, however I mostly use B&W film, so it lingered in the drawer for some time. I did pull out some colour films recently to test a few new lenses, but for the motives I am mostly seeking out I do prefer Portra.

I like these three a lot, Chris. The third one could be from a travel magazine.

Yes I understand. Also the dashing handsomeness and well groomed-ness of the gentleman in question may suffer due to the long trip  :o .

I definitely look forward to the NYC trip and to meet you in person (do you have a printed portfolio of your work to shoe?).

It has been a long long time since I have been there, and then only for a short while on business.

Here's another Ektar shot, same location and details as the earlier one (some of the works are truly impressive).

Sounds good, Christoph.  Looks I will be in town that monday and tuesday and then I'm off to Miami for the rest of the week.

Yes, I have a small sampling of prints on Fuji Flex as well as fiber print B&Ws.

I really love this shot in every way!
