Ian and Keith , very nice trees gentlemen on the last page :)

Finally I remain faithful to the Leica M rangefinder because it's very precise as framing

it is light, very practical and you can go everywhere with it ... and with Leica  optics

the world's best  :)

24756122535_b8b3fb7cf5_b.jpgWeggis - Ilford Delta 100 by -Ric Capucho-

And now for something completely different...

My wife and I stayed at a small hotel on the Luzern lake (place called Weggis) and on the Sunday morning the weather was howling and 'orrible. So I popped out for a couple of hours with my M6 and an ND 10x filter (tripod , remote release, the usual). Anyways, Ilford Delta 100 and about four minutes of exposure, and this is one of the pickies that came out.

I've experimented with long exposures before, but made a few reciprocity failure mistakes. So now feeling like I'm at least getting to grips with the technique...

That mini theme is almost impossible in iceland! ;-)

Ah well, you'll just have to find something else.

Now what could anyone possibly find interesting enough to photograph in Iceland? Hmm... Volcanos, fjords, icebergs. (yawn). Mountains, beaches, the ocean. (yawn). Waterfalls, snowfields, geysers, icecaves, glaciers...

Nope, can't think of a single thing... poor you.

:-)

More trees ...

Not sure if this was with my Voigtlander 15mm or Zeiss 21. I should take a notebook out with me ... I was thinking of  a small recording machine but with filters, lightmeter and lenses it just becomes one more item to carry and probably drop.

Winter in Iceland. Kodak Gold 100, Oly XA

Your photographs with the XA are excellent.

I found an Olympus XA while clearing out my late father's house and have not got round to using it yet. But based on what I can see here, it will be a tremendous little performer. It make you wonder if you need a Leica ... ?

I like this, but I do tend to like long exposures myself. Do you use the Lee Big Stopper or is it a circular thread filter ?

I like this, but I do tend to like long exposures myself. Do you use the Lee Big Stopper or is it a circular thread filter ?

It's a circular B+W ND 3.0 (ten stop) with a 49mm thread. Originally bought it for the 28mm Elmarit, that I sold last week... But I have a 39mm/49mm adaptor for my wonderful Summicrons.

As luck would have it, the thread size also "naturally" fits the Rolleiflex Bayonet-3 to circular 49mm adaptor that I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

My newly arrived Rolleiflex 2.8F is intended for long exposure landscapes, so we'll see. Don't get excited just yet as it needs an immediate and thorough CLA because the aperture and shutter speed dials are stiff enough to hurt my fingers, and there's a ding in the bottom corner of the camera back/door where someone's dropped it, probably years ago. I'm hoping the CLA guy can source a replacement back/door.

Maybe not my best buy. :-(

But I had one bit of good news today on the Rolleiflex: I shot off a quick roll of 120 HP5+ using my youngest boy as a (very impatient) model, and got it developed. And a. the exposures were pretty much spot on, so the aperture, shutter mechanism, and shutter speeds can't be insanely wrong, and b. there's not a hint of light leak from that dinged corner, which is what I've been most worried about, and c. because the light was quite low when I snapped away at my son, the aperture was at f/2.8... and so his ears, shoulders and hair are perfectly in focus, but his entire face and eyes are not.

Live and learn. :-)

I've been warned that the focal plane of medium format when wide open is razor thin, but it's something else to experience it. The Summicrons at f/2.0 are way more forgiving!
