for color and for the film, photographing early gives beautiful colors

the same for the digital M8 or M9 , but should be treated with LightRoom

Henry, what's the outer skin of the boat made off? Or how are these boats called so I can do some 'googling' on them. ;)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tooka, I waited a bit to answer you because there is no document today except two French scientists who have studied the

method of production. If you're interested I can send you the document (send me a MP)

This is called a "boat-basket" made with thick bamboo (7 meters lenght and minimum diameter of 4 centimeters).

These bamboos are cut into strips and the strips are spread out and stressed.

We arrive to a circular shape (the shape of the boat) and a final strapping , also with bamboo is posed up.

For the sealing resin of plant and "dried cow dung" :) as a cement.

Several layers of resin are placed in succession. A boat like on the picture requires a long period of several weeks

and months, and should be done by local artisans specialists.

The drying time is long.

and this picture is for Tooka (picture uncorrected)

.... storm in preparation . All boats must stay on the beach , because these "boat-basket" can not face big waves but only calm seas with little waves

... the flexibility of the film color to b&w is amazing !

The whole series of photos of these boats baskets were taken from 5h 30 am

(except the photo the day of storm).

In Asia the sun rises from 4h 30. Sunlight is not very strong at this time.

and you must get up early , if you want to have beautiful shots :D

I used to think black and white photos were stronger than colour, period!

However, more and more I'm starting to think they are equal. It just depends on the subject and the mood. That last colour photo with the boat is one of those that turn out lovely in colour.

Henry, in this case the red / yellow shirt, the color of the beach and the green of the mountains in the background complete the picture.

Would it be possible to lighten up the shadows / blacks on the boats directly after you scanned the photo? As film is very forgiving, you might be able to bring a little detail back in the boats. Anyways, love both versions, it's just that in this case, colour looks more pleasing to my personal taste. ;)

I'm afraid that we can not correct more.

I tried in LR to slightly increase the brightness to lighten boats but.....

This photo was taken by accident because of the rain arrives at my right, there was a lot of wind that day ... I was about to leave :)

Sorry Allen

Lovely composition and colours of a lovely part of France. :)

Photo taken in the evening whilst walking the dogs. A friendly man I sometimes walk with told me shooting film wouldn't enable me to check if the photo would come out ok. I just told him, that I would then just go out again tomorrow as it's just a three minute walk from my home anyways. Took me about three months before I developed the roll though. :D

The artefact seems typical for my 35mm Summicron IV. Haven't seen it on my other lenses yet, shooting against the sun. It adds to the mood of the photo so I'm not bothered with it.

I normally don't post pictures much any more. I thought for Henry I make a little exception. A week ago I thought

it was about time to take my '0 out for a walk again. About half way I ended up in one of my favorite cafes, that's

when I took the first picture

(Leica M4-P, Summicron 2/50, ADOX CHS 100 II, svn)

On the way back home I happened upon these two beauties standing next to each other, shining in the sun.

The one closer to the camera is actually a cabriolet. These are for your French heart Henry ;)

(Leica-0, Anastigmat 3.5/50, ADOX CHS 100 II, svn)

Both pictures taken with the relatively new ADOX CHS 100 II. I am toying with a few rolls of this film in the last

few weeks, and quite like it. I am particularly fond of how it renders skin tones, though you cannot appreciate

that from the pictures above. The quality of the emulsion casting seems to have markedly improved compared

to the last batch of the original CHS 100 that I had.

Anyway, hope you enjoy,

Rgds

Henry,

For the above pictures I used some "homebrew".

The closest commercial developer would be Ilford Perceptol.

As a starting point I suggest to develop the ADOX CHS 100 II at 21 degree Celsius for 7:30 minutes in undiluted developer.

All the best,

Christoph
