Something else from France. Historical and contemporary. Dieppe Pont Colbert: The old harbor bridge from 1889. Photographed in 2004 (M2) and 2024 (IIIf). The bridge is currently being restored in the port area of Dieppe.

wow, such a magical scene! Very beautiful with a strong sense of adventures. Were you horse riding too?

When Paris (Île Saint Louis) was still romantic (80s). Shooting on film, there was nothing else. Leica M2, Elmar 2,8/50mm. Darkroom-Print from the same Time, toned with black-tea 😉.

Love this! It could be from a French New Wave movie...

Fantastic image capturing the horse and rider. 👏 Need to be fit to do that, young lady too who appears to be riding bare back.

Whoa!

Whoa indeed. Thank you all for your kind comments on my picture. I was not riding, Aryel, preferring to stay dry on the river bank with my camera. You are quite correct Steve, she was riding bareback, and was (obviously) an incredibly accomplished rider. Probably still is. I love how moments such as this can remain on a piece of film for decades and immediately rekindle some great memories when they are rediscovered.

No fear of crocodiles…

Way too far south for there to be crocodiles, Christoph, and too far inland for sharks. So it is a fairly benign waterway, all things considered, as long as you're careful to avoid snags from submerged trees and branches. But the girl in the picture was a local who knew the river very well, as did her horse.

Fantastic photo, Phil. The rider is certainly master of the situation and is inspiring to see, this photo will linger in my memory.

No sense in being stupid if you can't show it.  Photo below is Ilford PAN F (50), mislabeled by me as Ultrafine Xtreme 100, shot at 100.  So, mis developed in XTOL 1+1 for 9:45.  Roll was being run thru a $5 flea market find Nikon F.  Five bucks!  Lens was a 50mm Nikkor f1.4 at aperture unrecorded.  Lens was also a flea market find.  Lens and camera about 1972 or so.
